BirdieAlert Privacy Policy

BirdieAlert is a personal golf coordination tool operated by Todd Dowdy as a sole proprietor. This service is private and limited to a small group of pre-arranged participants who enroll through a verified double opt-in web flow.

Information We Collect

We collect the following information from each recipient during enrollment and ongoing use of the service:

• First name — submitted by the recipient on the invite landing page, used for personalization in SMS messages.
• Mobile phone number — submitted by the recipient on the invite landing page and verified via a one-time SMS code.
• Consent audit data — at the time of enrollment, we record the submission timestamp, IP address, and browser user agent of the device used to submit the opt-in form. This data is retained to demonstrate proof of consent in compliance with TCPA, CTIA, and mobile carrier requirements.
• Service activity — tee time alerts, group invitations, spot-claim responses, and message status associated with each recipient, used to coordinate group bookings.

Opt-In Process

Recipients are enrolled through a verified double opt-in web flow:

1. The operator shares a personal invite URL of the form https://birdiealert.app/r/invite/{token} with the prospective recipient through one-to-one outreach.
2. On the BirdieAlert landing page, the recipient reviews the service description, message frequency (0–10 messages per week), the “message and data rates may apply” disclosure, HELP and STOP instructions, and links to the Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy. The recipient then submits their first name and mobile phone number.
3. BirdieAlert sends a one-time 6-digit verification code via SMS to the submitted number.
4. The recipient enters the code on the next page to confirm ownership of the phone number, completing the opt-in.
5. After verification, the recipient receives a one-time welcome SMS confirming enrollment.

No messages are sent until this verified double opt-in is complete.

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information solely to send SMS notifications related to golf tee time alerts, group invitations, booking and spot-claim confirmations, cancellations, pre-game reminders, and related coordination for shared rounds of golf. Consent audit data is used only to demonstrate proof of opt-in if required.

Information Sharing

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. This privacy notice applies to all SMS messaging communications. Information sharing with subcontractors in support services, such as messaging delivery (Twilio), is permitted solely to operate the service; all other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent — this information will not be shared with any third parties.

We do not sell, rent, lease, or otherwise distribute your mobile phone number or any personal information.

Message Frequency

You may receive between 0 and 10 messages per week, depending on golf activity. Frequency varies with tee time availability and group coordination needs.

Message and Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply. Standard messaging and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply to messages received from this service.

Opting Out

You may opt out at any time by replying STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, OPTOUT, or REVOKE to any message. Once opted out, no further messages will be sent from this number. To re-opt-in, reply START or UNSTOP from the same number, or contact the operator at todd.dowdy303@gmail.com for a new invite link.

Data Retention

Phone numbers and consent records are retained for the duration of your participation in the service and as required by applicable law. Following opt-out, your phone number is retained in a suppression list to ensure your opt-out is honored.
