BirdieAlert Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your participation in BirdieAlert, a personal golf coordination tool operated by Todd Dowdy as a sole proprietor.

Service Description

BirdieAlert is a private, invitation-only SMS notification service. It sends messages related to golf tee time availability, group invitations, booking confirmations, spot-claim notifications, cancellations, pre-game reminders, and related coordination for shared rounds of golf. The service is not open to public registration.

Eligibility and Enrollment

Participation is by invitation only. Each recipient is enrolled through a verified double opt-in web flow:

  1. The operator shares a personal invite URL of the form https://birdiealert.app/r/invite/{token} with the prospective participant through one-to-one outreach.
  2. On the BirdieAlert landing page, the recipient reviews the service description, message frequency (0–10 messages per week), the “message and data rates may apply” disclosure, HELP and STOP instructions, and links to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. The recipient then submits their first name and mobile phone number.
  3. BirdieAlert sends a one-time 6-digit verification code via SMS to the submitted number. The recipient enters the code on the next page to confirm ownership of the phone number, completing the opt-in.
  4. After verification, the recipient receives a one-time welcome SMS confirming enrollment and restating message frequency, rates disclosure, HELP/STOP instructions, and links to the Terms and Privacy Policy.

No messages are sent until this verified double opt-in is complete. There is no signup or registration process available to the general public.

Message Frequency

You may receive between 0 and 10 messages per week, depending on golf activity. Frequency varies with tee time availability and group coordination needs.

Acceptable Use

Recipients agree to receive messages related to the purposes described above. Recipients may not redistribute, share, or republish content received through this service.

Opt-Out

You may opt out at any time by replying STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, OPTOUT, or REVOKE to any message. Once opted out, no further messages will be sent from this number. To re-opt-in, reply START or UNSTOP from the same number, or contact the operator at todd.dowdy303@gmail.com for a new invite link.

Message and data rates may apply. Standard SMS rates from your mobile carrier apply to all messages.

Limitation of Liability

This service is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. The operator assumes no liability for missed tee times, booking errors, scheduling conflicts, delivery delays, or any other consequences arising from use of, or inability to use, this service.
